Use this chart to identify your stool type and determine if your specimen meets the acceptable criteria for the clinical study.
For this clinical study, specimens must have a Bristol Stool Score of less than 6 (Types 1-5). Types 6 and 7 are not acceptable as they indicate diarrhea.
Like nuts, hard to pass
Indication: Severe constipation
Sausage-shaped but lumpy
Indication: Mild constipation
Like a sausage with cracks on surface
Indication: Normal
Like a sausage or snake, smooth and soft
Indication: Normal - Ideal
Soft blobs with clear-cut edges, passed easily
Indication: Lacking fiber
Fluffy pieces with ragged edges, mushy stool
Indication: Mild diarrhea
Watery, no solid pieces, entirely liquid
Indication: Severe diarrhea
These stool types are suitable for specimen collection. Proceed with the collection process as instructed.
Do not collect specimens of these types. Wait until your stool consistency improves before collecting.
